Does Viral Fever Cause Persistent High Temperature And Red Circles Undereyes?

My daughter (6) has had a high fever since Sunday (5 days) she has lost 3 pounds, is very lethargic, not eating well and now has dark red circles under her eyes. She is negative for influenza, strep and lungs are clear. The doctor said we will have to wait it out. Any ideas? Can a virus last this long?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if the febrile condition is more than five days then it could be bacterial, parasitic infection and may not be viral infection, it is advisable to get done the routine test of blood and urine, till the care need to be taken for hydration and fever, hope this information helps.
