Does Wearing Retainers Constantly Cause Gap Between Teeth?

I've had my braces taken off on Friday 10th July 2015,so a few days ago and I have constantly been wearing my retainers day and night as advised by my orthodontist. However I noticed that there are gaps opening up between my teeth and I see they are opening up more and more. I am very concerned that the gaps will get bigger and I don't understand why they are because I'm always wearing my retainers and do not leave them out for long at all when eating and brushing. Is this normal and will the gaps close up eventually ? Is this normal? Please answer. Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your health concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have got the braces removed too early before the teeth could have permanently taken its new place and there is also a possibility that your retainers are not sufficient applying pressure over the teeth due to which the teeth are shifting from its place...

The gaps between the teeth will not at all close by itself and you should immediately consult an Orthodontist and get evaluated and as per the explanation there is a chance that you may require repetition of your fixed orthodontic treatment...
But any confirmed treatment can be decided only after clinical evaluation..

Hope this information helps..
