Does Weight Gain Hinder Pregnancy?

My BMI is approx. 45. I have been struggling with losing weight for many years now, and I seem to just lose only 1-2 lbs and then gaining it to get back to where I started out. I eat lots of vegetables everyday, try to limit the sugar and unhealthy fat intake to a minimum. I rarely eat unhealthy. I am very focused on losing weight. I have a low metabolism, but I am medicated to keep it in balance. It has recently been checked, and the metabolism is kept at an acceptable level. So.. if I eat healthy .. why do I have such trouble losing weight? Even if I go out to eat for one evening - and I try to eat small portions and remember to eat vegetables and lean meats.. I am sure to have gained weight the next day. What could be wrong with me? I m desperate as my husband and I are trying for a baby, but I need to lose the weight to have a healthy pregnancy. Help!

I have read your plea and have understood it.
In fact every woman gradually goes on putting weight during pregnancy - and that is what is desired. Throughout the 40 weeks period of pregnancy, woman gains about 11 Kg of weight, of which about 3-3.5 kg belongs to the baby. Some more portion is shared by placenta, membranes and the fluid around the baby. Some by increasing uterus and rest by you. This increase in weight is required for the nutrition of the baby. So please do not start yourself. Have proper diet and give birth to a healthy baby.
