I am 23 years old, 150cm in height, 40kgs weight. Hi Doctor, I just wanted to know what will be the possible bad reaction of my health for being expose to xray. I have been taken chest x-ray last March 2011 for our Annual medical exam but months after (May 2011), i was advised to take another chest xray as requirement in travelling abroad. The result was released a day after & I was advised to take another type of X-ray in different position. Now, I am very worried about taking x-ray many times.. Would it caused great damaged to my cells? thank you
Taking 3 chest X rays in 3 years is completely acceptable. It is practically as much radiation as you will receive while flying 6 to 8 times taking 4 hour flights. This is very less radiation and no damage to your cells has happened. X rays are least harmful and as necessary they can be done except in pregnancy in case of females. CT scans are very harmful and should not be done without purpose.
