Done Eyelid Lift. Have Open Eyes. Long-term Harm?

I had an eye lid lift October 2012 My eyes bow are so wide open that they are very uncomfortable and they do not close all the way. I was told that this should be repaired that it is causing more eye problems. I do not want to have them do this again if it is just cosmetic. Do you think it is true that the way they are is doing more long term harm?

Hi,

Yes it is true, inability to close eyes can cause dry eyes. It is not just cosmetic. Tears form a protective film over the surface of eyes and protect eyes from infection. Severe dry eyes if long standing can lead to inflammation and scarring on corneal surface which may interfere with vision.

Hope this helps,
Dr A Rao
