Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
When follicles matures fully it attain the size of 19-20 mm and then burst and liberate ovum.
These follicles are adherent ovaries on both side .
So ovarian inspection and follicle study is an important tool for any conception.
Ovaries inspection and follicle study is necessary for pregnancy.
In my opinion your doctor is in right direction.
Why follicles are not maturing ,this depends upon the study of hormones as estrogen, androgen , ratio of F S H / L H .
Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of both ovaries .
In my opinion your gynecologist is right thing .
Good luck. Dr. HET
