Done Thyroid Function Test, Prescribed Cital And Carbimazole. What Is The Problem? Treatment Correct?

Hello Doctor, My mother is 67 years and her Thyroid Function Test result as follows. T3 = 457.6, T4 = 19.84, TSH = 0.005 and doctor has given Syrup Cital (Disodium Hydrogen citrate liquid) and Carbimazole mg 5 tablets for 1 month and advised to repeat the test after 1 month. Viewing above, kindly advice us what is the exact problem to my mother and above mentioned treatment is correct or not.

Dear user, hi! your mother seems to be suffering from hyperthyroidism. To make sure that what is causing her to be hyperthyroid, you need to make her undergo 99TC thyroid uptake scan at some nuclear medicine center.
treatment actually depends on the report. but this much i can comment that carbimazole 5 mg is a very low dose, she will require 20 mg twice a day to begin with. there is no role of syrup for thyroid disorder, if it has been given for some other reason, then it is fine. regards!
