Drug Addict Gave Razor Cut. Had Open Wound With Blood Coming Out. Got Tested Or HIV. Advise?
hello,
i recently had an encounter when some drug addict on the pretext of shaking hands gave me a razor cut on my index finger. that cut was about the size of a finger nail. i then checked his hands and realised he had an open wound on the thumb with blood oozing out. got myself tested on 17th day, 24th day and 26th day after the exposure.All negative. The test was CMIA hiv 1/2 combo including p 24 antigen from lal pathlabs India, a reputed lab it is. Now i have severely itchy scalp since 3 days , today is 29th day. I am convinced that drug addict beggar was suffering from hiv. Could someone tell me if i can rely on the tests done so far.

it seems that you have done all requried test.. p24 is very reliable test and if it is negative then no need to worry.. plus lab you mentioned is also very reliable..
if you are still worried then you can go for prophylaxis HIV for which i will suggest you to consult MD physician .. however i dont think you recquire it. plus i feel it necessary to tell you that HIV prophylaxis drugs causes sever nausea and vomiting which is difficult to bear and in 0.1% people it can damage liver also..i guess your test are negative so no need to worry.. take care..

I believe that the scalp problem can be addressed by a dermatologist. I also think that you should stop worrying about having contracted HIV and move on in life and not let the incident affect you anymore. I wish you the very best in recovery.
