Drug Addiction, Family Wants To Intervene And Take Off Cold Turnkey. Suggestions?
we are trying to plan a intervention for a family member and we need some information. this man is thirty years old and uses oxy and many other drugs. he has been using needles. we would like to know if we can take him off all these drugs cold turkey. we don t want his life at risk but we don t have any other options left here
I understand your concerns. I believe it is okay for your family to intervene as long as they are aware of the consequences of your going off of the drug cold turkey and you allow them to participate in you health care. I believe you need to consult a psychiatrist and have yourself assessed for dependence and if necessary participate in a drug rehabilitation program. You may also get a court ordered treatment if the patient seems to be a threat to himself if he continues to use substances.
I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
