Dry Areas Around Lips, Flaking, Spot Above Lip. What Could This Be?
Dry areas around lips, flaking, dead skin, spot above lip. Treatment? Hey, I ve had dry areas around my lips for at least 5 months, maybe less. It comes after maybe a day of not washing my face and looks very flaky and kind of pink. Sometimes it will be random flakes, other times there will be almost circular shapes, and whenever I rub it with my sleeve dead skin comes off. Now I ve had one specific spot right above my lip that is always pink and is always flaky. What could this be?
Hi and thanks for using this panel. I am so sorry about what you are experiencing right now.
These symptoms raises the suspicion of seborrheic dermatitis. This is an infection (M. furfur) of the fat producing glands most especially on the face. Itching is also common, do you have this also?
The treatment is often with low potency steroids. I will however suggest that you meet and discuss this option wit your doctor. Seeing the prooblem is always very helpful!
I hope this helps you. Feel free to return with follow up questions. Wish you good health
