Dry Flaky Irritated Skin On The Penis. Had Unprotected Sex. Tests For STD Negative. What Else?

Hello, I have been experiencing dry, flaking, irritated skin on the top part of the shaft of my penis and right below the urethra before the glans. It has been itchy, flaky, reddish color and just recently some cracking of the skin to cause bleeding. I have been tested for herpes and chlamydia and those have come up negative. The NP I had seen also thought, because of a rash I had gotten on my back around the same time as the symptoms on my penis, it was shingles causing the dry skin on the penis. I had taken an anti-viral but to no avail on either conditions. This all began after having unprotected sex with a new partner. I am 26 years old, 155 pounds, and 6 feet.

Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
From the description that you have given, it appears that you are having some fungal infection. It may or may not be related to the unprotected sex that you had earlier.
I understand that you have been treated for chlamydia and herpes, but it seems that you have not been treated for fungal infection by on of the antifungal drugs like ketoconazole and fluconazole etc.
Do revisit your dermatologist and let him consider the fungal infection this time.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
