Dry Persistent Cough. Tried D'cold Total, Homoeopathic Medication, No Relief. Will Azee 500 Help?
Been suffering from dry cough since one week. Emptied a strip of D cold Total, a bottle of Tusq-D, and even tried homeopathy medicine. None has worked. No cold, fever , just annoying dry cough every few mins. Am recommended Azee 500 by a friend. Is it good? OR any other remedy for quick (immediate) relief, as I cannot keep coughing in office and in meetings all the time.
Hi thanks for your question.
You are having persistant dry cough and the commonest cause of dry cough is upper respiratory tract infection(URTI) and post nasal drip.
Your already taking antihistiminica, continue with antihistiminics, addationally you can take Azee as recommended by your friend,
it is an antibiotic and good for URTI .
It will help in elimination of bacterail infection.
If your symptoms persist after a week of treatment please consult a physician.
Hope I answered your question.
The persistant dry caugh could be due to prodrome of respiratory infection/persistant allergy to a particular allergen.
The cause of infection has to be investigated with throat swab culture/blood (AEC)and urinalysis including CXR PA View.An empirical antibiotic till the reports arrive to be taken.
The best medicine for suppressing dry caugh is codeine sulphate/phosphate/lintus codeine .As it is habit forming ,it has to be taken with caution. It has the side effect of inducing constipation also.
After the reports are received a specific therapy can be taken up.
Hello,
You are having an acute chest infection which could probably be due to viral or bacterial causes as they are the most common. You can treat acute bronchitis symptomatically at first or you include an antibiotics like azee 500. Inhaled corticosteroid or antituissive medications could relieve symptoms.
But I will prefer you be examined by your doctor and the medication indicated to you. If after the azee 500, you still having cough you will be obliged to still visit your doctor, so it is better to visit now, so he/she can decide on which medication to place you on for the cough.
Wish you the best and a quick recovery
