Dry Throat, Congestion, Cough. Fluid Build Up In The Ear. Claritin Prescribed. Cough Persisting. What To Do?
the right side of my throat gets dry and prickly, sometimes it like a grabbing sensation and it creates a persistent cough that goes on on and on and forces my urine to come down. I can literally taste the colour less but slimy fluid that builds up some times. I have adenoids and as a child had to have my ear syringed a few time. despite that I never had much of a sinus problem until last year..( I am 37 yrs old). I was told by a doctor a few times that he saw a bubble or fluid build up in my ear. he gave me Claritin to take each time. the cough get worse when I try to sleep so I haven't had much of that in a few nights. Help
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to: 1. Allergic reaction to any environmental allergen. 2. Upper respiratory tract infection.
Claritin (pharmacologically loratadine) is an antihistamine used to treat the symptoms of allergies.
The presence of fluid inside the ear is known as Serous otitis media. There is a connecting tract (known as Eustachian tube) between the nasopharynx & middle ear through which infection can spread to ear.
Local examination of the ear along with tests like Audiometry & Tympanometry will help in clinching the diagnosis, Depending upon this, further steps for management can be taken.
So, it will be better to consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation. Wishing you a Good Health. Thanks & take care.
