Dx With Mono, Fatigue, Headache. Can Participate For Game?

my son is 9 and my daughter is 12. they were both dx with mono this week. they are feeling ok except some fatigue and a headache . i have been told they cannot finish out their baseball and softball seasons b/c of the risk of contact to the spleen . if they wear a protective, under armour, shirt under uniform, can they play if they feel up to it? and what about participating in a field trip with their class to a water park. should they participate is the rides?

hi.welcome to healthcaremagic forum. i think your son and daughter are suffering from infectious mononucleosis and resulted into spleen enlargement. enlarged spleen is prone to trauma and may get ruptured and may cause even death in worse possible condition.you should avoid any activity which may endanger spleen.regression of spleen enlargement possible.so keep in touch with your doctor and follow their advice.till then do not allow any such activity, at least not against medical advice. good luck.
