Ear Infection, Plugged Ear, No Pain, Feel Water Juggling In On Shaking Head. Relief Measures?

Age 52, was diagnosed with my first right ear infection one week ago. (after having the flu , the previous week) Was put on amoxicillan 875mg 2 times daily. Ok, my ear is totally plugged, no pain, but when I shake my head, I feel like I have water juggling inside. How long does this last. I do have some sinus pressure on the same side, so I have been taking an decongestant this week also. The plugged up/no hearing is what is really bothering me. Any suggestions to relieve my plugged ear?

HI I have gone through your mail, as you said you are having blocked ear with sinus pressure on same side, though you have no pain but you feel as some fluid in moving in your ear with the movement of your head. After listening your story it is clear that you are suffering from sinusitis with secretory otitis media, because your sinus infection had blocked the Eustachian tube (tubular connection between ear and throat), due to this your middle ear had developed negative pressure thus feeling of plugged ear you noticed, later on this negative pressure in middle ear stimulate mucous glands of middle ear mucosa which gives sensation of fluid in ear. Now as far as treatment is concern under the guidance of your E.N.T.doctor you should take appropriate antibiotic based on culture and sensitivity report, anti-inflammatory, decongestants and steam inhalation. Thanks.
