Ear Pain, Headache, Sneezing Blood. Taken Antibiotics. Is Surgery Necessary To Remove Trapped Pus In Nose?
Hi, please my brother recently had a problem with pains in the ear and severe headache. He also coughed and sneezed out blood. He went to the doctor who gave him some antibiotics injections. The pain and coughing out of blood reduced drastically. He later went to see an ENT doctor that sent him for frontal and side X-rays of his head. After examining the X-rays, the doctor say that he still has some pus trappep in his nose which need to be flushed out by surgery. Is there an alternative to this surgery by way of ordinary medication or is surger the only alternative?
Sorry for your brother's troubles. However, I hardly doubt if there will be a most suitable alternative rather than surgical drainage of the pus. The only other alternative is use of antibiotics which will be less effective unless the pus is drained by surgery. The pus is a cavity (like a closed bag/pouch) and unless the cavity is opened, then pus drained, it will be there and will pose problem of pain and probably sepsis. So, I suggest you opt in for surgical drainage and give your brother a chance to recover quickly.
Hope this helps
