Earache Followed By Weird Hearing, Echo, Slight Ringing. Suggestions For Relief?
Hello, last Wednesday I got an earache in the evening, It lasted from about 9pm to 1am and it really hurt, then after that my hearing was weird, almost a slight echo. Since then my ear has had a slight ringing. I went to the university health center yesterday who looked in my ears and said that there was no build up of wax and my eardrums were fine and told me to try balance the ears by holding my nose and blowing. I tried this but it is still ringing.

The sensation you described happens in a mild cold or infection of the ear which causes the development of fluid inside the ear or within the drum. Your routine examination will be normal and you need a specialist examination to rule out this pathology
1.Consult an ENT who will perform a proper examination of your ear drum
2.Get a test called the audiometry done (both PTA and impedance) so that the hearing loss can both be quantified and ddiagnosed
3. Do regular steam inhalation and take only warm fluids
4. Remember that this blocked sensation may last for a minimum period of at least two weeks to one month so have patience and it will become better
