Effect Of Small Heart On Health Or Active Lifestyle?

Hello Dr. Koregol: My son-in-law has been told that his heart is likely three sizes too small. He learned nothing about what effect this can have on his health, or his active lifestyle.. Can you tell me generally what this means? Thank you. I am very concerned for him. Cheryl K. Adair

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The heart is responsible for receiving blood from the body, sending it to the lungs to receive oxygen and then sending the oxygenated blood throughout the body. The different parts of the body need this oxygenated blood to work properly.

It is possible that even with the reduced size , his heart is still able to pump enough blood. His doctors would be conduct tests to see if this is the case.
If it is too small to work properly then he may develop heart failure.

I hope this helps
