Ejection Fraction Of Heart Rated At 40. Thinking Of Slowly Increasing Walking Time. Suggestions?
my ef has recently rated at 40, I do no walking except to shop, should I increase my walking ? can this increase my ef, I"ve had 9 heart attacks and am on 17 meds, have had bypass surgery, but my friend wants me to walk a little. starting at 10 minutes a day and if possible slowly increasing that time. How much risk is there to this practice? thank You
Dear Sir/ Madam Thanks for your query to us. There is no doubt that exercise has an important role in rehabilitation of patients with CAD. This depends upon a number of factors like your EF, number of non-revascularised obstructions, time to last event, any episode of exertional VT in the past etc. I would recommend you to consult your cardiologist, take an exercise prescription and start walking. Sincerely Sukhvinder singh
