Examination Of Hip Showed Osteophyte, Scerosis, And Acetabulum. Meaning?

Yes, I am needing to find the definition of: Osteophyte, Scerosis, and Acetabulum. I had an examination doen of the left and right hip and receive my results. In plane english I need to understand the conditon I have been diagnoised with. Also what treatments are available to cure this conditon or keep it under control so it doesn't get worst?

I have read your question.

The features which you are having in your x ray are features of arthritis hip.

Osteophytes are the bony growth which occurs from the margins of joint surface.

Sclerosis is hardening of bone underneath the joint surafce.

Acetabulum is the cavity & part of hip joint where thigh bone articulates & form the hip joint.

For hip arthritis you should do following-

-If you are obese then decrease your weight.

-Start taking joint supplements like glucosamine & chondroitin sulfate.

-Take a mild analgesic like paracetamol for relief of pain.

-Take the help of physiotherapist & learn some exercises for hip.
