Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

hydromorphine is a good analgesic or pain medicine. It can be used in a lot of pain conditions. It is also illegally abusec. It is a opioid drug and it has potential to cause serious sedation. As he is in elderly age he is having sedation because of the drug only. Consult his doctor for some non opioid analgesics like NSAIDs. They don't cause dependence.

thanks
