Experiencing Bleeding & Spotting After Having The Depo Shot

I have been taking the depo shot for more than 5 years and had my last shot a month ago and am not due for my next until September. I have previously experienced bleeding towards the date my next shot is due, however I have experienced spotting recently. Is this normal?
