Experiencing Sharp Pain Under Breast. Pain While Coughing, Moving Arm. What Could It Be?
Hello, I am 30 year old female. I m not very sporty and little overweight lady who also have desk based job. Untill recently I ve had not experienced many health issues, despite being diagnosed with obsessive compulsive eating disorder and bullimia approximately 10 years ago. Since then on and off I ve been precscribed FLUOXETINE and now OXCTACIN (appologies for bad spelling). I am also taking microgynon to prevent unvanted pregnancy. I have no children, loving partner and I m overall happy and positive person (or so I tell myself anyway:-). About 10 days ago I had started experiencing sharp pains on the right side of my body approximately just underneath my breast . Now it feels much more frequent and painful. Whenever I m moving my right arm (when dressing, washing up, even using punch hole r!) I can feel pain which becomes worse when I cough. I m usually not a panicky person however sometimes it takes my breath away and I feel my chest on the right side being tight:-( what should I do? I don t recall any accident, no changes to my lifestyle. Any suggestions would be most welcomed:-) Karolina from Poland X

If I were your treating doctor for this sharp pain on the right side of chest , I would come up with these possibilities , these includes.
1 As you mentioned that there is sharp pain during breathing , coughing so may be due to pneumonitis or consolidation of lung ( right ), diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest and with physical examination by a physician .
2 May be any bursitis or infection of head of humerus bone . Sharp pain in shoulder joint sometimes aggravated by coughing , sneezing , dressing. Diagnosis can be confirmed by examination by an orthopedic surgeon.
3 Costo chondritis , least possible cause . As sometimes pain the coastal ( rib bones) may be the cause factor.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion and deal accordingly.
