External Ear Pain, Pain Moves Back And Forth. Taking Painkillers. Treatment?

I have had external ear pain for more than 8 weeks.
The pain started with a sharp pain in the bone behind my ears.
The pain moves back and forth from the bony area behind my ears to the external ear.
I have been to the ER , and ENT they could not find anything.
I numb the pain with pain killers, but I cannot keep on taking them
Please advise
Thanks
