Extreme Hard Heartbeats, Feels Like Heavy Weight On Chest. What Could Be This?

Sometimes my heart begins to beat extremely hard. You can literally see my chest and abdomen move with its beating. When I'm just sitting and it begins to beat hard I am fine and just try to watch my breathing, but when it happens as I am standing or moving I tend to become short of breath and feel like there is a heavy weight on my chest. I'm not sure what is wrong.

Hi and thanks for the query,
It would be very appropariate to have a clinical evaluation. This could range from heart disease, lung disease, thyroid disease to anxiety disorders. consulting your internist first could be very appropriate. A chest X ray, Electrocardiogramme, cardiac ultrasound, measurement of thyroid function, coupled to a good clinical examination could be sufficient to orient towards and appropriate diagnosis and thus guide clinical care. The anxiety component could also need the advice of the psychiatrist of necessary. Thanks hope this helps. I suggest you book an appointment with an internist.
Best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
