Extremely Painful, Sore Thyroid In Neck, Difficulty In Breathing. No Swelling. History Of Hypothyroidism. Advice

Hi I am Amanda. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a bit over 2yrs ago. I was put on Eutroxsig, which helped alot, but now for the last 5 days my thyroid has begun to be very painful down my left side of the neck, very sore to touch, difficult to sleep, and breathe sometimes, very sore in the neck area. Went to docs yday i am on antibiotics, which do not seem to be relieving anything at the moment. Took a blood test to check thyroid levels. Doctor checked my thyroid and noticed how sore it is but my thyroid is not swollen at all, just very painful. Doctor thought it a bit unusual that it is not swollen. What would be your thoughts on this?

HI IAM DR USMAN
WELL I WOULD ADVISE YOU TAKE AN ULTRASOUND OF THROID. IT GIVES THE INNER PICTURE. ALSO SOME TIMES THERE MAY BE SOME OTHER TENDER LYMPH NODE WHICH MAY BE CAUSING PAIN. ALSO THERE ARE MANY ABNORMALITIES OF THYROID THAT CAN CAUSE PAIN BUT DONOT ENLARGE IN SIZE. SO GET AN ULTRASOUND DONE . THANKS HOPE IT HELPS
