Eye Injury, Watering Eyes, Nasal Discharge, Pressure In Eye Ball, Pain On Blinking. Treatment?

My eye got poked last night, I m experiencing pain in my eye, very teary , runny nose and also feels like I have somewhat like pressure in my eye ball sometimes when I move. My vision is fine. When I touch my eye socket area the eye ball hurts. Even blinking causes pain. Any suggestions? I wash/splash with water and add eye drops solution. At moment I ve covered it loosely which has kind of settled still hurts and teary. Please help !

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,

It is likely that you have had a corneal abrasion when the eye got poked. Very superficial corneal abrasions heal very well with lubricants and eye patching for 24 hours. You can put a lubricating eye ointment such as Lacrilube into the eye and patch it for 24 hours. After 24 hours if symptoms persist, then it is better to get the eye examined by an ophthalmologist for a closer look at the cornea.

Ophthalmologist Dr. AK Garg's  Response
Hello

It appears that you have received a minor injury to your corneal epithelium which is causing pain, redness and watering in your eye. You need to add some anti-biotic and anti-inflammatory drops locally and give rest to the eye by putting a bandage on the eye or a patch. You also need to take systemic anti-inflammatory tablets for 2 days. You condition should improve in about 48 hours.
