FNA Suggests Follicular Neoplasm, Lump Growing In Size, Difficulty Breathing. Sister Had Thyroid Removed For Malignancy. Suggestions?
I have had a FNA suggestive follicular neoplasm. in three weeks since the biopsy the lump has grown three times the size. I am having difficulty breathing. Coughing on my back.. it hurts to swallow. I am 44, 176lbs.. I have an appointment schedule to meet the surgeon.. But its scheduled for October 22 months away..... the lump is growing.. my voice is hoarse.....is this normal to have to wait this long. Family hx sister had her thyroid removed found malignancy..... is there something I can do in the mean time...
It is not normal and you should not wait. Plan and visit the ER. Probably, it was put that late because all the symptoms you have mentioned above were not there. Difficulties in breathing and swallowing constitute emergencies and you should be treated as such. Let them know about the new developments and i bet you your doctors will change the initial plan unless otherwise.
