FSS Done Due To Sinus Problems. Using Otrivin Drops. Need Alternate Medication

Hi,
I am suffering from blocked nose symptom. I had accute sinus and allergy problems in India. I got an FSS done this
February. After that, ever since I have moved to California, I am getting nose blocked. I am having to take Otivin or Otrinose drops to relieve me of my nasal decongestion. Is there any medication here which can help me in this situation?

Hello,
Otrivin or Otrinose which contain xylometazoline are to be used only for sometime like 5-7 days not long as it causes more blockage and the normal cleaning activity of the skin of nose is decreased.
So do try to stop its use.
In place you need to take normal saline nasal spray(better will be hypertonic nasal sprays like hypertonic physiomer nasal spray) and you may also require steroid nasal spray for some time which can be tapered later.
Take oral decongestant tablets in place of nasal decongestant (otrivin) which can be stopped later ....but i advice you this tablet considering you are not hypertensive.
Get well soon.
In case of doubt do reply.
