Faster Heart Beat Before Sleeping. Anything To Worry?

Hi Doctor,

I am 39 year old woman. I am experiencing a fast beating heart rate just right before sleeping or when I lay down to sleep. It happened to me twice in my life. My heart kept beating fast for 30 minutes for no reason. I am not on any medication, perfectly healthy and the only tablets I take are vitamins. Should I be concerned?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Irregular heart beats need to be DOCUMENTED by ElectroCardioGram (EKG). Standard ECG records the electrical activity of the heart, for a few seconds. It can detect the arrhythmia occurring during that time only. If the episode occurs randomly or precipitated by a specific activity like exercise, one needs Holter or event monitor.
Conditions like hiatus hernia (pushing up the diaphragm while lying down) should be excluded...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
