Some facts and tips about sleep and sleep problems arevas following
Sleep is a state of relaxation and one can go of to sleep only if he is relaxed
If one goes to bed thinking he will go off to sleep or not and when and how he will sleep for sure he will not be able to go off to sleep
as it will generate
anxiety in the person and if there's anxiety about sleep he will never go off to sleep
No body becomes mad if he has not slept few days for sure
However he may develop anxiety about sleep and that anxiety will persist at time of going to bed .As explainef above s vicious cycle will take place anxiety___does not allow the person to go off to sleep_____this gives more of anxiety _____this anxiety prevents sleep _____thus sleep process is effected
Solutions
1. Ask your father to stop worrying about sleep
2 . impress upon him that he will not become a mental case if does not sleep for few days .He misunderstood the doctor .
3.He should go to bed without worrying about sleep and lye in a relaxed and ln his normal sleeping posture
4 Does not think about sleep may thinknabout any thing at that time but do not think and bother about sleep
5.To begin with for few days as I would give to my patients drug by generic name Lorezapam 1 mg 30 minutes before dinner and go to bed within 15 to 20 minutes after dinner for sleep By the time he goes to bed action of drug will start .Every drug takes some time to start working Do not think that he has taken any drug for sleep .If he takes drug after dinner it will delay absorption of drug becsuse of food and patient will become anxious about delay in getting sleep which will hinder sleep onset
