Hello there,
Does your mom -in -law feel like the food particle is stuck in her throat? If yes, this is called a globus sensation. First thing is to rule out
GERD ( gastro- esophageal reflux disease). But since her
endoscopy is normal, it is unlikely to be GERD. Is she the anxious type/ gets worried easily about small things? Is she going through any stressful situation? Does she complain of multiple unrelated symptoms(aches and pains everywhere)? Does she have iron defeciency
anaemia or
thyroid problems? Has she been tested for H.pylori?Does she have any other medical problems? Any burning sensation in the upper abdomen or central part of chest, belching/
bloating sensation of the abdomen etc? What medication is she taking right now? I would suggest getting her TSH (thyroid) and Hb (
hemoglobin) level to rule out thyroid disorders and anaemia. If the tests come out as abnormal, once you treat the cause , she will become better. If the tests are normal, there are other medications available. It could be just a manifestation of her
anxiety. Dont worry. Kindly get back to me with the above details as it will help me to get a better idea of what exactly she is suffering from.
Meanwhile , give her bland, less spicy food, that can be easily digested like porridge etc. Through trial and error, avoid foods which induce the feeling of food getting stuck in her throat.
Have a nice day :)
