Feeling Of Restricted Breathing, Heaviness In Chest, Heart Palpitations. Heart Issues Ruled Out. Guidance?
Hi, for the last week I have had a feeling of restricted breathing (like I am trying to breath through a towel) and my chest feels heavy, I have also been getting heart palpitations and the feel like my heart is sometimes slowing right down and feel a rumble feeling in my chest. This happened after I ran for a bus, my heart was racing after the run but the I had this rumble feeling, I checked my pulse and while this rumble was happening my pulse stopped for a second the started racing again. I have been to the doctors and they check my blood pressure and listened to me heart but said all was ok and didn t know what was causing this. Any advice would be very much appreciated as this is worrying me. Kind Regards
I persume that you are healthy. You did not mention your age though. During our teen age, we normally don't observe our body or we observe rarely. But later 30s and early 40s are period when we always observe body movements because we are worried about our health. When we start observing, we find lot of mismatches and have several doubts. I hope that is your problem. You went to doctor, they said there is nothing to worry. If they say said so why doubt their ability. If you want you can go to another physician nd check again. That is it. If the new physician also says there is nothing to worry, then be happy. As a psychologist I can help you online if you desire so. Good luck.
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
The feeling of smothering at breath may be due to respiratory problem or a cardiac disease.
The respiratory causes commonly giving symptoms are Hyperreactive airways or exercise induced asthmatic attack when you have a sudden onset of bronchospasm and difficulty to breath.
Cardiac problem that can cause trouble like yours are- congestive heart failure, a very high blood pressure surge leading to cardiac failure state, or a transient cardiac rhythm disorder called arrhythmia.
You should get a medical evaluation for the appropriate diagnosis because the treatment depends on the exact diagnosis.
Your diagnosis will be helped through a chest X Ray, ECG and ECHO to start with and further plan can be based on the report of this work up.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!
