Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

His symptoms could be related to different causes:

- chronic anemia
- thyroid dysfunction
- sleep apnea
- depression, etc..

Coming to this point, I would recommend performing some tests:

- a complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels
- a multi sleep latency tests for possible sleep apnea
- a blood gas analysis
- respiratory function tests
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalance.

Meanwhile, I would recommend eat a balanced diet (Mediterranead diet is recommended). Fresh fruits and vegetables are rich in electrolytes and vitamins, which are necessary for a normal brain function.

Increasing caffeine intake through the day may help make him more awake.

If sleep apnea is diagnosed, he may to use a CPAP device.

Best wishes, Dr. Aida
