Felt A Burning Sensation On Upper Lip Due To Wax Strips

Hello,
I used cold wax strips on my upper lip and felt a burning sensation afterwards. The upper lip area remained red for another 12 hours before a scab started to form. I have been applying silverex on it. Is that ok? What can I do so that it does not leave a scar. Forums are suggesting application of aloe vera.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Waxing involves forceful epilation of hair from the follicles and can therefore cause redness and inflammation of the skin, specially delicate skin areas like upper lip.

I would suggest that you apply a moderately potent topical steroid e,g fluticasone propionate cream , twice daily to the affected area for a few days.

Steroids are antiinflammatory and would take care of the redness and inflammation at the site applied.
