Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic .
I shall be considering here the most probable causes of
vertigo /
dizziness in a school going child .
1. Benign positional vertigo , a spinning feeling that occurs when you move the
head ,this does not need any treatment , just rest is enough .
2. Absence seizures -most commonly found to start in children in the age group of 4 yrs to 12 yrs .
The hallmark of the absence seizures is abrupt and sudden-onset impairment of consciousness, interruption of ongoing activities, a blank stare, possibly a brief upward rotation of the eyes.
You can check for this condition by asking her to continuously breath deep and fast (hyperventilate ) for 3 mins .
Hyperventilation can more than 80% of times induce the seizures again .
I would advise you to take it seriously and take her to a neurolgist whho would then get an EEG done to rule out seizures .
