Fever With Cold & Body Ache Suggest Tummy Or Flu Virus?

I woke during the night feeling like I might be sick, and felt very cold but couldn t get warm. When I woke up this morning my tummy felt queasy and my body was achey. During the day I have had a slight temp and felt cold also. Does this sound like a tummy virus or a flu virus or what?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms you are experiencing are related to viral infection that is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms (viral gastroenteritis= tummy virus).

I'd advise to;
- increase fluids intake (water, juice, tea, soups)
- if diarrhea or vomiting, take oral rehydration salt and probiotic
- take warm to hot bathes (especially soaking your feet in warm to hot water)
- have light meals (soup, curd, etc.)
- take acetaminophen for fever
- take vit.c and B complex supplementation

If the symptoms won't improve or will get worse in the next few days, should consult with your doctor.

Wish speedy recovery!
Dr.Albana
