Fingers Swollen, Bruised, Painful. Waiting For Blood Test Results. Cause Of Symptoms?

Hello Doctor, This question is about my sister who has had the fingers of her both hands swollen and bruised for a few days now and when she wants to use her fingers they are painful. She has gone for a blood test a couple of days ago and she has not got the results yet. We are worried for her and I would like to know what could be the cause of her symptoms please? Thanks
