Flu-like Symptoms, Fever, Muscle Aches, Sore Throat, Fatigue, Redness In Arms And Legs, Swelling, Discoloration, Puffiness. Is It Auto-immunity Problem?
Hello. My husband started having flu-like symptoms: fever, muscle aches, sore throat, fatigue; but then started noticing small red areas appearing on his arms and legs. The areas are almost like bruised areas some with a darker center. He also noticed the same redness/edema to areas where he had a recent injury; a dislocated finger that was pretty well healed is now swollen and very discolored; a laceration above his right eye that was healed is also now red, puffy and discolored. He is feeling much better today, no fever, but the red areas have me concerned. Could this be an auto-immune problem? I am an ER nurse and have never seen this before with a fever or flu/cold symptoms. Thanks for your input, Laura D.
Hello.
Thank for the query.
Sometimes the wasp sting remains in the wound.
This causes intense inflammation.
The resulting blistering and ulceration is due to this.
The sting must be removed and you need treatment with anti inflammatory and analgesics.
Let me know if you have any other doubts. You can also ask me a direct query on this forum.
