Hello and welcome to HCM,

The presence of fluid in pouch of Doughlas is not specific for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Fluid in the pouch of Doughlas can be due to infection, after ovulation, etc.
In cases of infections of genital tract, abstinence is required till the infection clears away.
The treatment of the partner is also needed in case of infection of any one partner.

Thanks and take care
