Hi there
Thanks for your query
Swelling in the feet happens when the fluid accumulates in the legs due to impaired physiological regulation of fluids in the body.
Swollen feet can be caused by many conditions, including being
overweight, increased age, prolonged walking, swelling of the veins of the legs that cannot properly pump blood back to the heart, infection of the leg and blood clot in the leg. It can also be caused by medications,
kidney failure,
liver failure and
heart failure.
In your case, obesity along with prolonged standing or walking is playing the main role in causing swelling of feet. Though it is important to rule out other conditions as well. Thus it is important to do a physical examination and investigations to pick up a specific diagnosis.
Things that you can try at home are to raise your legs above heart level while lying down, wear compression stockings, avoid wearing tight clothes around your thighs, lose weight, follow a low salt diet.
Hope I addressed your concerns
Thanks
