For What Disease Is Udimarin Forte Tab Prescribed?

my brother had parenchymal liver disease and had undergone band litigation using endoscopy for varices in aesophagus and was on liveril forte medication for one month..Next week ,he caught a fever and went to another doctor who ruled that fever had nothing to do with the liver problem. He prescribed udimarin forte tab for 10 days. When I checked the web I read that this drug is used to control cholesterol absorption for gallstone patients.I couldn t figure out why this was given to him

Hello,

Your brother had parenchymal liver disease and was on Liveril forte. Liveril forte is basically a liver tonic, a health supplement that helps to detoxify the liver and maintain liver health and protect it from further damage. Silymarin, the key component has hepato-protective properties that enhance liver functioning and help repair.

Since your brother had been getting fever the treating doctor has suspected infection or primary biliary cirrhosis, hepatomegaly or hepatitis that is likely to cause fever, hence he prescribed Udimarin forte tablet (combination of Silymarin and Ursodeoxycholic Acid). The medicines prescribed by the treating doctor should be taken only for the length of time instructed. Do not overdose.

However, to confirm the degree of liver damage or enlargement get liver function tests and imaging tests done. Stay connected with the treating doctor. In the meantime, your brother is suggested to take boiled water after cooling. Boiled food or food cooked in little olive oil for a period of 3 months to prevent relapse of the symptoms.

He should take fruits, veggies and lean meat that is well cooked. He should avoid taking anything raw to avoid indigestion and gastritis. He should take quality sleep (8 hours) to help liver repair itself. He should avoid spicy oily food and addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
