Given Bactroban To Cure A Sore On Nose Caused By Fungal Infection. Why Is It Recurring?
For the past several years, I have had a re-occuring sore at the exact same spot in the very tip of the inside of my nose. I have been to the ENT Dr. a few times and he gave me bactroban to put on it saying it was a fungal infection. I'm not convinced that is what it is since it goes away for months at a time and comes back without warning. It is very uncomfortable :( It had never happened until about 8 years ago, but it now appears like 3x a year. Also, the tip of my nose is asymetrical. it is concave on the left side where the sore occurs, and it has more of a lump shape on the right. The ENT said that I must have injured my nose to cause it... but that certainly never happened. Could this really be a fungal infection that keeps popping up, or could it be something else?
Hi, After reading your query your problem does not seems to be fungal infection. Rather I would like to make a tentatvie diagnosis of Recurrent Folliculitis.
It is a Simple blockage and inflammation of the oil and hair root. It may cause dime sized knot underneath skin of leg.
You can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablet such as paracetamol or diclofenac.
Do not try to pinch pop or even touch the area as it may lead to secondary infection and further aggravation and spread.
If you are wearing any nose pin then it could also be important cause of the recurrent eruption on your nose, so it would be better to take it out.
Take care.
