Glass Piece Cut Near Heel, Cleaned, Applied Neosporin. Getting Sharp Pain In Wound. Why?

A glass piece cut my foot near heal, yesterday... I cleaned my wound well in flowing water and applied neosporin and covered with a band aid.... My cut is about 1 inch in length and less than quarter inch deep... I could see scab around the cut and my feet was in elevated position with less activities... Now I am getting a sharp pain often in the wound.. Is this the after effect of the wound?? Or what should I do further...

Hi,
The wound should be inspected well for any evidence of infection. It should be cleaned with an antiseptic solution and an antiseptic dusting powder applied. Please remember- a wet wound needs a dry powder while a dry wound needs a wet ointment. You may need to take an anti-inflammatory drug to lessen the tissue reaction. If you are sure there are no glass remnants that could have gone into the wound, the pain could be due to the healing process. Be sure to get the wound examined by a surgeon once. Hope this helps.
