Going To Correct Deviated Septum, Polyp In Maxillary Sinus Removed Under General Anesthesia. Advise On Surgery?
I am having a 90% deviated septum corrected and a polyp in my maxillary sinus removed. I am going fully under with general anesthesia. I am really nervous about this surgery. People have died from these types of surgeries and that's not even taking the Gen. anesthesia into account. Any advice on this? I want to breathe better but I don't want to die.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
You have significant deviation of the nasal septum. You must be breathing by mouth during sleep. This requires surgical correction. Both correction of septal deviationa and removal of polyp can be planned in single sitting.General anesthesia. Both these procedures are relatively safe.I suggest to get it done from an ENT surgeon who has enough expertise so that you would not worry much about the failure rate.Hope this helps. You will get well soon.Donot worry. This is not at all life threatening procedure.
