Goiter, Scheduled For Thyroidectomy, Lab Tests Showed Borderline Enlarged Heart. Will This Cause Complications In Surgery?
i had a goiter .last august i met a doctor in goiter that i decided for thyroidectomy but he told me to have a lab test(cbc,t4, tsh ,t3,ecg,ultrasound) and xray which the result has borderline enlarge of the heart.as of now i am still waiting for another check up on nov.7 and required me to have a CBC, urinalysis and creatinine.is there a possible that despite of all the lab test required to me,no surgery be done becauseof my borderline enlarge of the heart?my husband was already mad last sept.19 because the said doctor never issue me a clearance for surgery.i was really confused and sometime make me depressed.
Hi,
This is imprtant to understand that your thyroidectomy is not an emergency surgery to treat some life threating condition. It is an elective surgical procedure. Before any planned surgical procedure it iimportant to make sure that you are completly fit for the surgery and ready to face the anaesthesia.
Now based on the assesement of your compelte check up only it can be decided to go for the surgery.
So don not got mad on doctor, he/she is doing this for the safety of yours and once every thing is within the normal limits for the surgery, it can be done.
As far as the boderline enlarge heart is concern, it is important to take that in your condition because of thyroid problem.
Thanks and take care
