Gone Through Tubectomy Earlier, No Periods. Pregnant?

I am 42 aged. My wife is of 40 age. We have 2 children. My wife had gone through tubectomy, 10 years back. Last couple of months, she was troubling with a short duration(18 to 25 days) periods with little excess of bleeding . But last month, she did not get menses at all. So far it is 40 days, since her last menses. Now. we have the fear, about her pregnancy. Because, we don t want it. Please clarify me.

Hello
Thank you for your query.
After tubal ligation, chances of pregnancy are very remote.
What is worrisome is that if she gets pregnant, chances of an ectopic pregnancy ( outside the uterus ) are very high.
So please get a pregnancy test at the earliest.
If negative, then the reason for such irregular cycles could be her age, as she is approaching peri menopause.
Other causes are stress, anxiety, weight gain or weight loss, thyroid imbalance, diabetes, polycystic ovaries and endometrial lesions or hormonal medications.
in any case, its best to consult a gynecologist.
take care.
