Got A IUD Inserted. Had A Stabbing Feeling In Night. Had A Clear Mucus Discharge With Some Blood. Perforation?
I got a Skyla IUD inserted 3 weeks ago. From the first night, I had a sudden stabbing feeling that lasted ten or fifteen minutes, though it wasn't severe and happened only a few times a day. I still get intermittent stabbing pain, though never very bad, and it happens more often at night. If I press on it, it doesn't feel sensitive or hurt any worse. A few days ago I had a clear mucus discharge with some blood in it, but only once. The pain may be getting slightly worse at night. Could this be a perforation?
Hi, If you can feel the threads of the device, it indicates that it is in position. Occasional spotting and pain are seen as side effects of the device. You should have regular follow up with your specialist to check for the accuracy of the position and any other problems. Since your pain is persistent over the days, you should have a clinical evaluation once along with a sonogram to see what is wrong. Perforation most often gives rise to continuous severe pain and failure of contraception. Hope your query is clarified. Take care.
