Got Bitten By Dog On Ankle And Heels, Feel Sore. Possibility Of Getting Rabies?

I got bitten by a dog about a month ago on my ankle and it's heals but the are still feels sore. my son kinda has me concern cause he said I could still catch rabbies .the police couldn't find the dog. but I was dumb and didn't go to see a doctor.I'm I still able to get the tangled shots or is it too late cause I read that sometimes people don't show symptoms until later on and would the shots do any good if they were given this late.

There is very less role of rabbies vaccine now ,if you wish you can take them also.
