HFA Autism. Discomfort From Loud Noises And Eye Contact With Strangers, Obsession With Patterns. What Is Wrong?
I think I might have HFA autism. My symptoms are: I notice patterns around me, I have obsessions that range from the bermuda triangle to morse code that I research and talk about. These obsessions last from a week to sometimes a year. I have discomfort when there are loud noises, I frequently have trouble understanding sarcasm or expressions, And also have discomfort with eye contact with strangers.

Hi,
High functioning autism is not a self-made diagnosis. The diagnosis is usually made in children below 3 years of age. The 'obsessions' you list regarding bermuda triangle or morse code sounds like an 'interest' that can be present in any person. 'Obsessions' are accompanied with a lot of distress where a person is bound to think or do something in particular which the person thinks is senseless and tries to resist the thoughts or actions. This causes significant interference in their daily activities. Discomfort with eye contact could be due to social anxiety or unfamiliarity or the lack of confidence to confront new situations.
I suggest that you stop worrying about it. If you still feel anxious you can get a detailed evaluation by a psychiatrist but there is no need of any medications for the above stated symptoms.
